An analysis of professional football fan bases that may have consumed the most beer, wine, or liquor during the 2023–24 NFL season has revealed that Indianapolis Colts fans, who tied Atlanta Falcons fans with an average blood alcohol content (BAC) score of 0.085%, had the third highest blood alcohol content in the nation.
In the state of Indiana and in the United States, a blood alcohol content (BAC) of more than 0.08% is deemed legally intoxicated.
Based on the study's findings, the most intoxicated NFL fans were probably Tennessee Titans supporters, with an average blood alcohol content of 0.093%. On the other hand, Kansas City Chiefs supporters, who won this year's Super Bowl, drank the least.
The creators of the portable breathalyzer that users may link to their smartphones to determine when they are over the legal limit to operate a motor vehicle, BACtrack, created the rankings.
BACtrack gathered blood-alcohol level data from over 28,000 app users between September 2023 and January 2024, which coincided with the NFL regular season. According to the company, the findings were gathered in an anonymous manner between 6 a.m. on the day of a regular season game and 6 a.m. on the day following the game.
The U.S. users who choose to share their data, activate location services, and grant the BACtrack app access to their smartphone's Bluetooth provided the corporation with the information.
Despite the fact that the BAC scores are probably accurate, folks shouldn't take their favorite teams too seriously. The company emphasized that the data does not represent results from all supporters of a specific football franchise and used a map of NFL fan allegiance produced by Matt Sorenson from social media data to correlate BAC results with NFL teams around the nation.
