Meet Associate Attorney Madelyn Smith

Madelyn joined our office in June as an Associate Attorney. She has started strong, and I see great things for her. I am proud to have her working for me and our clients.

Practicing law with passion, determination, and confidence, Madelyn Smith will fight for you in the pursuit of justice. You can trust that she will work alongside you to ensure that your questions and concerns are fully addressed.
She has substantial experience in criminal defense and expungements.

SHE IS A CONFIDENT PUBLIC SPEAKER AND ADVOCATE

In law school, Madelyn Smith participated and excelled in a variety of public speaking programs and events. She stood up and spoke out for the rights of the wrongly accused. Madelyn worked with Indiana State leaders to improve the criminal record expungement process. Indiana attorney Madelyn Smith received training in mediation and conflict resolution. She has given presentations involving expungement, assisted reproductive technologies, marijuana legalization, the opioid epidemic, active shooter situations, and other topics.

SHE WILL FIGHT FOR YOU

Madelyn Smith is passionate about social justice. For over four years, she has been helping members of the Indianapolis community clear their criminal records. Associate Attorney Madelyn Smith marched in the local Indianapolis Women’s March in 2017 and advocated for women’s rights. She marched and gave fellow protestors information about their Constitutional rights at the Black Lives Matter protests last summer. She is sensitive to the injustices in our society, and she will never be afraid to speak up and fight for change.

Community Involvement

In May we awarded two Nicholson Scholarships. The first award went to Grayson Joslin and the second was awarded to Kynnedi Shepherd

Coco Nail & Spa

Pedicure

When was the last time you got a pedicure? It can be difficult to make time for tasks and self-care that seem insignificant. I had the opportunity to visit and receive services from COCO Nails, located in the Eastside of Indianapolis off 71st Street. The nail salon offers an abundance of services ranging from waxing, acrylic and gel polishes, deluxe pedicures, and eye-catching nail art. The staff is friendly and welcoming as soon as you walk through the door. You are met with crystal chandeliers and soft leather seats to sit in. COCO Nails has a large variety of polishes and designs you can choose from, so much so it would be difficult for customers not to find their perfect color. After talking to manager Katie, I gained a better insight into the world of nail care.

Manicure and Pedicures

She strongly urges everyone to get manicures and pedicures because they are healthy for you! Katie is excited for the summer season because it is by far COCO Nail’s most buzzing time of year. Summer vacations, weddings, and pool days bring customers in to get the nail care they need and deserve. Katie discussed the COVID-19 precautions being followed to keep a healthy, clean environment for customers. “Everything is wiped down and disinfected. Even our pens after use. We all wear masks to keep our customers comfortable and healthy.”

I asked Katie about the importance of pedicures, seeing how many people view pedicures for purely beauty purposes. She mentioned how everyone of all ages, genders, and backgrounds should find themselves reclined in the leather chair—especially workers or athletes on their feet or in shoes the majority of the day. Many people disregard their nail health and protection. This indifference can lead to an abundance of infections and bacteria such as Paronychia, Athlete’s Foot, and a common toenail fungus called Onychomycosis. As well, dead skin cells can build up over time without exfoliation or proper removal. You will receive nail clipping, foot filing, foot shaving, foot soaking, and massaging during a pedicure to enhance blood circulation. All these procedures help give your foot a refreshed, rejuvenated look, all while preventing foot diseases.

It is never too late to start incorporating self-care and healthy habits into your life. Give your feet some appreciation for keeping you going all day by giving them a pedicure at COCO Nails. Your mind, body, and toes will thank you.
