May brings in Mother's Day, Interns, New Hires, and Racing!

Mother's Day

May 8th was dedicated to all of the wonderful mothers in our lives. Mother’s Day has been long celebrated to focus on all of the amazing things that moms do for us and others. I hope everyone was able to spend time with their mother. If your mother is no longer physically with you, hopefully, you were able to honor her or some other mother figure in your life.

Interns

May ends school for most students, and that means summer break and internships. I have continued my internship program even during the pandemic. And this summer, we have the return of the interns, Lauren Kirchhoff and Paige White.

New Team Member

I am excited to welcome my new team member, Executive Assistant, Maddie Pedlow.

Racing

Of course, what is May without mentioning all the fun stuff going on. The 148th running of the Kentucky Derby! The Kentucky Derby took place at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky. The horse Rich Strike, ridden by Sonny Leon, shocked the world and won the race. The win resulted in a massive upset when the odds to win were 80-1, the second-longest chance to win in Derby history.

Horses are not the only thing that race! On May 14th, the 2022 Grand Prix Motor Race was held. The race time had to be adjusted due to rain in the forecast. The race was 85 laps or 120 minutes, whichever came first. The race was held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The 2022 Grand Prix winner was Colton Herta.

It was my first time attending the Grand Prix. It was fun, although my son and I got wet to the bone with all the rain.

The Indianapolis 500 is an annual race that is held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Speedway, Indiana. Spectators gather from around the globe to watch drivers take on the 500-mile-long race, completing 200 laps total. Events and concerts leading up to the big race throughout the month of May. The race was Sunday, May 29th, and the winner was Marcus Ericsson.

It was my family's first time attending this greatest spectacle in racing. The weather for this race was perfect, and about 300,000 people attended.

Celebration Month

May was a great time to celebrate National Barbecue Month and National Barbecue Day. National Barbecue Day was on May 16th. There is no better time to get outside and show off some mouthwatering food on the grill or smoker with family and friends.

May is also known as Masturbation Month, and International Masturbation Day was held on May 7th. The celebration aims to emphasize a type of self-love and self-exploration. Masturbation can also be good for your bodily and emotional health. You can read more about this fascinating holiday
